French toast with mixed berries

Preparing this dish is easier than it seems. In fact, the secret to a successful toast lies in the type of bread used.

For the best possible outcome, use slightly stale bread and slice it into rather thick slices. This trick will give the final dish the perfect texture.

Ingredients:

  • 4 thick slices of slightly stale white bread
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • 90 ml almond milk
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 300 g Asiago Food frozen mixed berries
  • sifted powdered sugar

Combine the two types of milk in a bowl and lightly mix them with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. While continuously stirring, add the flour, cinnamon, and salt. At this stage, the batter is ready.

Remove the frozen berries from the packaging and gently rinse them in running water. Once they are well drained, place them in a ready-to-use bowl.

If you don’t have stale bread, you can also use fresh bread but you will need to toast it first. Place the bread slices on a plate and pour the batter over them. Flip the slices to evenly distribute the batter on both sides and let it rest for a few seconds.

Meanwhile, heat up the oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the bread slices coated in batter on both sides until they reach the desired golden brown color.

Are you ready for the final decoration?

Arrange the bread on a clean plate and pour the remaining maple syrup over it, along with the berries that you previously heated in a pan for a few minutes with a bit of flour or cornstarch, and finish it off with a sprinkle of powdered sugar. The French toast with berries is ready to be enjoyed!

For those seeking a hearty breakfast, French toast with berries is undoubtedly the perfect dish. Nutritious and delicious, it can provide a boost of energy for the entire day!
